Brief Introduction ASTM A53 steel pipe can be cut and threaded with specific specifications. It uses black malleable (soft) cast iron as fittings connected by screwing onto the threaded pipe, after applying a small amount of pipe joint compound on the threads. ASME SA53 pipe with larger diameter is welded rather than threaded. ASTM A53 steel pipe can be cut by heavy-duty tube cutter, cutoff saw or hacksaw. When the steel tube is forged, a black oxide scale or oxide skin forms on its surface of ASME SA53 pipe. Because steel is subject to rust and corrosion, we often coat it with protective oil. JST uses black steel to manufacture pipes and tubes that will not rust for a long time and require very little maintenance.

Applications ASTM A53 steel pipe is mainly used in mechanical and pressure applications and it is also applicable in steam, water, gas and air lines. ASME SA53 pipe can also be used as structure pipe, gas pipe, antistatic tube and fluid pipe.

  • Under the control of advanced rolling process, dimension deviation of JST ASTM A53 steel pipes is controlled within the specified range. JST manufacturing process even further reduces the allowable tolerance range of ASME SA53 pipes.
  • In the production process, there always exist some surface quality defects, such as flaw, scar, wrinkling, laceration, rolling burr and others. JST configures UNICORN ultrasonic joint inspection machine, automatic ultrasonic testing machine, magnetic flux leakage testing machine and other testing equipment to detect obvious surface defects of ASTM A53 steel pipes.
  • Our company employs professional surface inspection personnel to do special testing for the inner and outer surface defects of ASME SA53 pipes.
  • For the inner and outer surface defects of pipe, JST professional inspection personnel will do polishing, removal, repair and a series of processes based on their specific characteristics. Those processes are carried out in compliance with standards, which absolutely guarantees the minimum wall thickness of ASTM A53 steel pipes and achieves uniform wall thickness requirements.

  • It belongs to rolled seamless steel tubes manufactured through thermal processing. Sometimes we can do cold finishing for the hot-rolled tubes to make them acquire required shape, size and performance.
  • The outside diameter (O.D.) of ASTM A53 steel pipe ranges from 6.0 mm to 323.0 mm.
  • The wall thickness (W.T.) of ASME SA53 pipe is 130 mm.
  • The longest length (L) of this type of steel tube is 12000 mm.
